Description
Let me tell you why I built this.
I was formulating for years before I realized how little translation existed between what is on the back of a bottle and what the research actually says. The beauty industry counts on you not being able to read a label. The Ingredient Intelligence Database was built to fix that. Every entry follows the same structure. What the ingredient actually is. What the industry wants you to believe about it. What the peer reviewed research shows. The alternatives worth knowing by name.
What’s Inside
- My category walkthrough. Cleansers, humectants, emollients, occlusives, actives, preservatives. The families on every label, translated.
- Industry marketing versus peer reviewed research for each ingredient, so you can tell a story from a study.
- The alternatives worth knowing by name when you want to replace something that is not serving your skin.
- Plain English translations of the most common INCI names. No chemistry degree required.
- A reusable framework so you can run the Ingredient Intelligence Database process on any ingredient that is not yet in the guide.
Who the Ingredient Intelligence Database is for.
This is for the conscious consumer, not the chemistry PhD. If you can read a nutrition label, you can read this guide. If you have ever felt stupid in a store for not knowing what polyquaternium does, the Ingredient Intelligence Database fixes that. It is the thing I wish someone had handed me before I ever started my own formulation journey.
